How often does it happen in our Yoga practice that we are seeking a few moments of feeling grounded to get back into our state of being, to attain a sense of deep connection with our existence, a sense of being in the moment & feeling our presence.
Specific Yogic grounding practices do help us reach such moments, however, when you combine your practice with foods that have a grounding effect, you feel that unity of diet & yoga having a deep impact on your grounding experience.
Pumpkin is one of the bast foods that grounds you deeply. Check out this pumpkin soup recipe to ample up your grounding practice!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups chopped pumpkin
- 1 leek
- An inch ginger
- 2 garlic cloves
- ½ cup yellow mung (split) dal
- ½ cup walnut/almond milk (optional)
- Sea salt to taste
- Pumpkin seeds for garnishing
- Coriander leaves for garnishing
- 500-750 ml water
- 1 teaspoon ghee
Recipe:
Sauté grated ginger, chopped garlic & leeks in ghee until cooked. Add pumpkin, pre-soaked mung dal, water and salt to taste and pressure cook until soft. Blend the soup and add walnut/almond milk. Garnish the soup with pumpkin seeds and chopped coriander leaves.
